Frequently Asked Questions
Ordering and process
Share your window dimensions and preferences with us through WhatsApp +32 487 20 4230 and we send you an estimated price. If the price works for you, we book a free home visit if needed. During the visit you feel the materials, pick your colors from our sample books, and we take the final measurements. Afterwards you receive an offer based on the exact measurements. If you confirm, we ask for a 50% pre-payment and production starts right away. You can also order our bestsellers directly on shop.curtainboutique.be.
Delivery takes around 4 to 5 weeks from the moment you confirm your order. Because every curtain is made to your exact measurements, production starts only after confirmation.
Yes. Home visits are free with no obligation to buy. If nothing in our sample books convinces you, there is no charge. We visit homes across Flanders and Brussels, including Antwerp, Ghent, Mechelen, and Leuven, and we are flexible with evening and weekend appointments.
No. We work without a physical store, which keeps our costs low and our prices fair. Instead, we bring the sample books to you, so you can see the colors in your own light and your own room before deciding.
Because each curtain is custom-made, changes are only possible before production starts. Contact us as soon as possible after confirming and we will check what is still possible with our workshop.
Measuring and sizing
For the first quote, a rough measurement is enough. If you book a home visit, we take the final measurements ourselves. If you order online directly, the curtains will be made according to the measurements you share with us.
All curtains are made to order, so you decide: one panel or a pair. Same price either way. What really determines cost is the width you need.
The pleat determines how the curtain folds at the top. Single pleat (2x width) gives a classic, calm look. Double pleat (2x width) is fuller and more formal. Wave (2.5x width) creates soft, continuous curves and works beautifully on modern rails. Want that fuller wave-like look with single or double pleat? We can do 2.5x for those too, just ask.
Note: wave curtains need specific S-wave gliders. If you’re ordering wave pleat, make sure your gliders are compatible, or ask us and we can point you in the right direction.
Fabrics and curtain types
We offer blackout curtains, white and patterned sheer curtains, and linen curtains, which sit between sheer and blackout. We do not sell blinds, roller shades, or electric curtains. Fabric curtains are what we do best.
Blackout curtains block most light and give privacy day and night, which makes them ideal for bedrooms. Linen curtains filter light softly while limiting the view inside. Sheer curtains let daylight through and give daytime privacy, and are often combined with blackout curtains on a double rail.
Yes. Thicker fabrics such as velvet and lined blackout curtains reduce drafts, keep warmth inside during Belgian winters, and dampen sound from the street. Many clients in city apartments choose them for exactly this reason.
For expats in Belgium
Yes. English is our main working language, and many of our clients are expats. The founder is an expat in Belgium too. We handle everything through WhatsApp or email in English, at times that suit your schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Most Belgian homes and apartments come with a curtain rail already mounted, but rarely with curtains. Windows here are often wider than standard IKEA ready-made sizes, which is why so many rooms in Belgium have made-to-measure curtains. Send us a photo of your window and rail through WhatsApp and we will tell you exactly what you need.
Yes. If your rental already has a rail, our curtains hang on it without drilling or changes to the property. If you need to drill to install new curtain rails, make sure to check it with your landlord first.
Of course. Custom curtains involve many small decisions, from fabric and color to pleat style and length. We guide you through each one during the home visit, with no pressure to buy.
